Event Overview:
The Pre-Conference for the International Conference on Climate Change 2025 (ICCC2025) was successfully held on 22nd August 2024 at Siddhant Hall, Forest Academy, Chandrapur. This pre-conference event is part of a series of preparatory activities leading up to the main ICCC2025 conference, which is scheduled for January 2025.


Welcome and Inauguration:
The afternoon session began with Registration and Refreshments, followed by the State Song and University Song. The event officially commenced with a Welcome Song performed by SNDT Women’s University students, setting a positive tone for the event.
The Lighting of the Lamp ceremony followed, symbolizing enlightenment and the start of fruitful discussions on climate change.


Felicitation of Guests:
Several distinguished guests were felicitated for their contributions:


1.    Hon'ble Shri. Sudhirbhau Mungantiwar, Minister of Forests, Cultural Affairs, and Fisheries & Guardian Minister of Chandrapur District, was felicitated by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Ujwala     Chakradeo.
2.    Prof. (Dr.) Neal Phillip, City University of New York, was felicitated by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Ujwala Chakradeo.
3.    Hon'ble Vice Chancellor,  Prof. (Dr.) Ujwala Chakradeo, was honored by Dr. Rajesh Ingole, Director, Ballarpur Campus.
4.    Mr. Vivek Johnson,  CEO, Z.P. Chandrapur, was felicitated by Registrar, Dr. Vilas Nandavadekar.
5.    Mr. M. Shriniwas Reddy,  Director, Chandrapur Forest Academy of Administration, Development     and Management, was honored by Registrar, Dr. Vilas Nandavadekar.
6.    Mr. Vipin Paliwal,  Commissioner, Chandrapur Municipal Corporation, was felicitated by Registrar, Dr. Vilas Nandavadekar.
7.    Mr. Ashok Khades, Director, BRTC Chandrapur, was honored by Registrar, Dr. Vilas Nandavadekar.
8.    Mr. Tanaji Yadav, Regional Officer,     Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Chandrapur, was felicitated by Prof. Jayashree Shinde.


Inauguration of the Solar Powered Weather Station:
A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Solar Powered Weather Station installed at the SNDTWU Ballarpur (Chandrapur) Campus with support from the City University of New York (CUNY). The inauguration was led by Hon'ble Shri. Sudhirbhau Mungantiwar, showcasing the university’s dedication to sustainability and technological advancements in climate science.


Keynote Speeches and Addresses:


•    Welcome Speech by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Shitole: The Organizing     Secretary provided an overview of the ICCC2025 conference and its     objectives, stressing the importance of addressing climate change on     a global scale.
•    Address by Prof. (Dr.) Neal Phillip: Prof. Phillip emphasized the importance of     international collaboration in tackling climate change, highlighting     the ongoing partnership between CUNY and SNDT Women’s University.
•    Hon'ble Vice Chancellor’s  Address: Prof. (Dr.) Ujwala Chakradeo     emphasized the university's vision for sustainability and the     significance of the conference in shaping future climate policies.
•    Address by Hon'ble Shri. Sudhirbhau Mungantiwar:     The Minister discussed the importance of collaborative efforts     between government, academia, and industries in fighting climate     change.


Synergizing Industry and Academia:


In a session led by Prof. Jayashree Shinde, Academic Coordinator of Chandrapur Campus and Dean of Interdisciplinary Studies, the discussion focused on the synergy between industry and academia in addressing climate-related challenges. This was followed by an engaging open forum where attendees discussed various topics related to the International Conference on Climate Change. During Open forum discussion Principal Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Nerkar highlighted technological advancement and how UMIT SNDTWU is progressing to address issues related to climate change.
 

Conclusion and National Anthem:
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Rajesh Ingole, Director of Ballarpur Campus, followed by the National Anthem, marking the successful end of the pre-conference event.

Next Steps:
The next pre-conferences will be held at Pune and Shrivardhan SNDTWU campuses, with preparations for the main ICCC2025 conference in January 2025 well underway.
